CHAIRMAN’S MESSAGE

It has been a real pleasure to act as Chairman of the West Dorset Centre over the past year and I am delighted to continue in the role for a second term. My thanks go to all Officers, Committee and Centre members who have supported and advised me during my first year.

There have been so many enjoyable times - welcoming new members, plenty of first time ralliers and even longstanding members who have never rallied, until now! So many new faces.

It’s been a positive year which has seen the purchase of the Centre marquee - a real asset which has been used to great effect on rallies and booked for use during the coming year.

We continue to encourage and support the Junior Division in their activities. Connor Ingham, Chairman of our Junior Division has decided to step down. I’d like to register thanks in this message to a very pleasant young man for his adult approach and commitment whilst Junior Chairman. We all wish Charlotte Martin, who has stepped in as Caretaker Chairman until their next AGM, the very best and look forward to joining them at their Summer Ball in June next year.

Our Rally Calendar for the forthcoming year introduces some exciting new sites, fun packed rallies, restful weekends and holiday rallies as well as a Diamond Jubilee Rally next June under the watchful eye of the White Horse in Westbury. This will mark and celebrate sixty years since Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s accession to the throne in 1952 and will be one of the highlights of our 2012 calendar. We are planning a full programme of events throughout the long weekend which I hope will be supported and enjoyed by as many of you as possible. Please watch our website or ask for more information about this rally.

Thanks, as always must go to all those who volunteer their personal time to organise and marshal rallies for the enjoyment of their fellow members. Without marshals we wouldn’t have rallies and, without rallies the Centre would have no purpose. If you would like to either run or assist on a rally, please speak to any one of the Committee who will be more than happy to help you.

At our recent AGM we welcomed five new members to our excellent Committee and I very much look forward to working alongside them to take the West Dorset Centre through what I anticipate will be another eventful year in the company of friends, both old and new.
